Meet the Trustees Behind Trust Wallet: Scarlett's Path
TWT ·
*Scarlett's whole story in her own words:* In 2023, a message changed the trajectory of my career. It was from Heyi, co-founder of Binance. She had been watching the crypto videos I'd been making in my spare time, long-form storytelling about the people and companies shaping this industry, made for anyone trying to understand what's actually happening underneath the headlines. She wanted to talk. But to explain how that message landed, I have to go back four years. ## Mining Through the Quiet Years I started mining Bitcoin in early 2019. Not the loud kind of crypto — no influencer phase, no quick flips. Just the quiet conviction of running rigs through a bear market because something about this technology refused to let me go. Mining taught me crypto from the operational layer up: block times, energy economics, why decentralization is technically hard, why trust-minimization matters. Most people in this industry learned crypto through trading. I learned it from the bottom of the stack. ## Telling the Story By 2023, I couldn't stop wanting to share what I was seeing. So I started making content — but not the price-prediction kind. I told the stories behind the companies and the people building crypto: the history, the opportunities, the risks underneath the surface. I wanted people new to the space to actually understand what they were looking at. I had no plan to turn this into a career. I was just a miner with a camera and a thesis. ## The Message That's when Heyi reached out. She'd been watching the videos. She said they were the kind of crypto content she wished existed when she was trying to explain the space to people outside it. She asked if I'd ever considered working on the inside. I hadn't. But I said yes. I joined Trust Wallet as a Product Manager on the AI team in early 2024. I came in with no traditional PM background. What I had was a framework for thinking about crypto that I'd built from scratch, and a belief that the people who understand the technology deeply are the ones who can shape it most usefully. ## What I Actually Do My job sits at the intersection of product, strategy, and the people building both. On the AI side, I work on the features that will define what Trust Wallet becomes — not just as a wallet, but as an intelligent layer between users and everything happening on-chain. Most of my time goes into figuring out what we should build, why it matters, and how to create the conditions for the team to build it well. A lot of PM work is translation. Between what users actually need and what engineers can build. Between what's technically possible and what makes sense in someone's real life. Between the long-term vision and the next sprint. What makes this role unusual is the speed. AI is moving fast enough that the product decisions we make today would have been speculative a year ago. I have to stay technically close enough to understand what's changing, and strategic enough to keep the right priorities in focus. ## The Bigger Bets Trust Wallet is building three things simultaneously, and I think all three matter: - A platform for crypto-native agent builders. - Our AI assistant — a wallet that thinks. One that knows what you need before you ask, works while you're away, but always asks before reaching for your money. One you, many quiet helpers. Always yours. - An AI-native organization. That last one is the biggest bet of the three and the one I believe in most. AI is creating a wave of capability democratization. One person can now do what used to require a team. A non-engineer can participate in the core building of a product. The distance between an idea and a shipped thing has never been shorter. Which means the organization itself has to be redesigned. What kind of talent fits this era? What shape should a company take? How does decision-making flow? How is trust built? The answers are different from what they were five years ago. We're not just rebuilding our products with AI. We're rebuilding what Trust Wallet, as a company, even looks like. There's no playbook for this — we're figuring it out as we build. I'm not an engineer. But Trust Wallet doesn't ask whether you can write the code, it asks whether you can see the problem clearly and build a path to solving it. That's why I'm still here. And it's why I believe this era belongs to the people who refuse to stay inside a single discipline. ## Why Trust Wallet If you're someone who can't sit still inside a single function — who keeps picking up adjacent problems because nobody else is solving them — this is the place. The scope is real. The trust is real. The frontier is real. 👉 [https://jobs.ashbyhq.com/trust-wallet](https://jobs.ashbyhq.com/trust-wallet) --- ## Outside Work When I'm not working, I climb, snowboard, and do anything that puts me on the edge of what my body can handle. Extreme sports give me something I can't get anywhere else: a kind of presence where the noise stops and you have to meet yourself honestly. No performance, no story, just the next move. Startups are like that too. Crypto is like that. AI definitely is. You don't get to plan the slope ahead — you just have to be fully there, on the line you chose. That's the part I love.
