Anthropic Eyes $2 Trillion IPO Valuation Despite Staggering $42 Billion Net Loss
Yahoo Finance ·
Claude developer Anthropic is eyeing a public listing valuation exceeding $2 trillion, more than double its $965 billion estimated valuation from May, despite posting a net loss of $42 billion in 2025, according to a prospectus reviewed by Reuters. The company plans to commit $518 billion to cloud, compute, and infrastructure expenses in upcoming years. Around $34 billion of the total deficit stemmed from accounting charges related to convertible financing instruments. On an operational basis, the loss expanded to $8.06 billion compared to $2.98 billion in 2024, even though revenue surged twelvefold to nearly $4.6 billion. Compute and infrastructure spending tripled to $7.33 billion, representing over half of the $12.65 billion total operating expenses. Anthropic wrapped up 2025 with $20.28 billion in cash, equivalents, and short-term investments. Furthermore, the regulatory filing highlighted concentration risks, noting that two clients generated nearly 25 percent of revenue and many major users lack long-term agreements. Amazon and Alphabet's Google back the firm as early investors and cloud providers.

DYAX 전담 분석
Anthropic's IPO pursuit simultaneously highlights the overheating of AI infrastructure investments and the high risk of capital expenditures. Despite annual computing costs surging to $7.3 billion and the presence of customer concentration risks, the $2 trillion valuation target directly impacts investment sentiment across the entire AI sector.
The bullish scenario is that massive cloud demand and revenue growth will offset profitability concerns, driving a rally in related tech stocks. Conversely, the bearish scenario involves bubble concerns being highlighted due to delayed monetization relative to massive infrastructure spending, and investors should closely monitor cloud supply indicators from Amazon (AMZN) and Google.
