MongoDB Q2 Earnings Call Highlights Atlas Strength and AI Traction Zacks Equity Research Wed, September 2, 2026 at 10:37 AM EDT 4 min read MDB MongoDB, Inc. MDB used its second-quarter fiscal 2027 earnings call to emphasize Atlas consumption, Enterprise Advanced and early AI workloads. President and CEO CJ Desai framed the strategy around cloud, self-managed and hybrid deployments. MDB's second-quarter non-GAAP EPS of $1.90 beat the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $1.60. Revenues of $771.77 million topped the $733.61 million estimate, representing a 5.20% surprise. MongoDB, Inc. price-consensus-eps-surprise-chart | MongoDB, Inc. Quote Atlas revenues grew about 29% year over year for a fifth consecutive quarter and exceeded guidance by roughly 300 basis points. Atlas added a record $127 million in revenue dollars. Net ARR expansion reached 122%, up from 121% in the prior quarter and 119% a year earlier. Larger enterprise customers remained the main growth driver. President and CEO CJ Desai said consumption trends were healthy. He noted that only a small number of large customers were discussing contract adjustments ahead of renewal. Desai said AI demand is emerging in customer-facing agents, search, fraud, identity and knowledge-retrieval workloads where scale and live operational data matter. Voyage customer count nearly doubled quarter over quarter, and a large majority of new Voyage customers had no prior MongoDB relationship. Atlas Vector Search adoption continued to outpace company growth. MongoDB also launched a managed MCP server for coding agents and expanded automated embeddings, reranking and vector-search capabilities. President and CEO CJ Desai positioned these tools as ways to deepen MongoDB's role in AI development. Desai said Enterprise Advanced is becoming more strategic as customers seek AI capabilities in governed, self-managed environments. Search and Vector Search were added to EA during the quarter. EA and other revenues grew about 36% year over year, with strength across financial services, technology and the public sector. EA and other ARR grew about 11%, a third consecutive quarter of double-digit growth. President and CEO CJ Desai stressed that EA growth was not coming at Atlas' expense. Customers are using both deployment models for resilience, regulatory requirements and hybrid architectures. CFO Mike Berry said the second-half revenue guidance raise was driven mainly by Atlas. Management now expects fiscal 2027 Atlas growth of about 27%, up 300 basis points from the midpoint of its prior outlook. For the third quarter, MongoDB guided to revenues of $756 million to $761 million and Atlas growth of about 26%. Full-year revenues are expected at $2.99 billion to $3.03 billion, representing 21% to 23% growth. Berry raised the fiscal 2027 outlook for EA and other revenues to about 11% growth from mid-single-digit growth previously. He also expects about 250 basis points of operating-margin expansion. A Wolfe Research analyst questioned the implied Atlas deceleration later in the year. CFO Mike Berry said the guidance methodology remains unchanged and stays prudent for later quarters because Atlas is consumption-based. A Morgan Stanley analyst asked whether stronger EA capabilities could shift customers toward Atlas. President and CEO CJ Desai said the products address different deployment needs and can create opportunities for each other. A Goldman Sachs analyst focused on Voyage as a customer-acquisition channel. Desai said some Voyage users are becoming Atlas customers, while coding agents are driving referral traffic. President and CEO CJ Desai closed with confidence in demand across enterprises, AI-native companies and frontier labs. His focus remained on broadening MongoDB's role across operational and AI workloads. CFO Mike Berry paired that growth message with operating discipline. He said MongoDB will keep investing in engineering, product innovation and go-to-market capacity while expanding profitability. Management's posture centered on Atlas and EA as two growth engines, with AI adoption developing across both. MDB currently carries a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold). Its Growth Score of A reflects stronger growth characteristics, while the Value Score of F and Momentum Score of F are weaker for those styles.
