Amazon Now Crosses $1bn in Gross Annualised Sales in India
Yahoo Finance ·
US retail giant Amazon's quick commerce division, Amazon Now, has surpassed $1bn in gross annualised sales in India during the past quarter, according to a report by The Economic Times. Amazon India country manager Samir Kumar stated that quarterly orders have doubled, driving rapid expansion. Prime members shop roughly three times more frequently than non-Prime customers, while adoption among non-Prime shoppers has also accelerated as the service expands into smaller cities. Launched in the March quarter of last year, CEO Andy Jassy previously announced plans to extend the service to over 300 cities and build the nation's largest rapid delivery network. The platform is on track to cover 100 cities by Diwali in November and operate 1,000 dark stores by the end of the year. Reports indicate daily order volumes are around 700,000, capturing nearly 10 percent of the market by volume and 14 percent by value. Kumar emphasized that future momentum relies on deeper penetration into tier-2 and tier-3 markets, where roughly 70 percent of Amazon's total customer base originates.

Amazon's quick commerce division, Amazon Now, has recorded rapid growth, surpassing an annualized gross merchandise value of $1 billion in the Indian market. With order volumes doubling every quarter and daily orders reaching approximately 700,000, it is establishing a strong presence in India's rapid delivery market. This performance is driven by the expansion of Prime membership subscribers and accelerated entry into smaller cities, and is expected to positively impact the profitability of the global retail and e-commerce sectors moving forward.
상승 영향
- E-commerce — Amazon's earnings growth is expected due to Amazon Now surpassing $1 billion in annualized revenue and rapid order volume growth in the Indian market.
DYAX 전담 분석
Amazon Now surpassing $1 billion in annualized revenue demonstrates its expanding market share in India's quick commerce sector (approximately 10% by order volume and 14% by value), acting as a direct positive catalyst for improving the profitability of Amazon's e-commerce business. Additional revenue growth is anticipated if plans to build 1,000 dark stores and enter 100 cities by the end of the year are realized.
The bullish scenario is that expansion into smaller cities accelerates the conversion of non-Prime customers to Prime memberships, strengthening the ecosystem, while the bearish scenario is that aggressive infrastructure investment leads to short-term cost increases, compressing margins. Future trends in daily order volume and the speed of dark store expansion should be monitored as key indicators.
