Amazon Expands Bedrock With Chinese AI Models as CEO Jassy Highlights Demand for Western Open Source
Yahoo Finance ·
Amazon.com Inc. is incorporating China's Kimi and GLM models into its Bedrock AI platform, while CEO Andy Jassy projects the service could eventually match the scale of AWS EC2. Speaking during the third-quarter earnings call on Thursday, Jassy noted that Bedrock features proprietary models from Anthropic and OpenAI alongside open options like Moonshot's Kimi K3, Z.ai's GLM 5.3, and SpaceXAI's Grok 4.7. Jassy observed that the Western world is extremely eager for homegrown open source AI alternatives, a gap he expects will narrow over time. He touted Bedrock's massive potential and robust security framework, ensuring customer data is never utilized for foundational model training. He further predicted that within two to three years, six to eight models will manage over 95 percent of all workloads.

상승 영향
- AI — Because the addition of Kimi and GLM models to Amazon Bedrock diversifies the AI model ecosystem and increases overall infrastructure and computing demand.
- Semiconductors — Because the proliferation of open-source and Chinese AI models generates more demand for computational resources and chips, positively impacting related hardware companies.
DYAX 전담 분석
The addition of Chinese open AI models to Amazon's Bedrock platform is expected to intensify cloud service competition and stimulate infrastructure demand. This forms a causal relationship where continued investment in Nvidia chips and cloud servers is required, accelerating the rate at rigidity of AI adoption by enterprises worldwide.
In the bullish scenario, the spread of open-source AI generally drives demand for computing and hardware, whereas in the bearish scenario, regulatory risks stemming from US-China tech competition could be highlighted. Key metrics to watch are the growth trend of Bedrock usage and the revenue growth rates of major cloud companies.
