JPMorgan's Priya Misra: AI Drives Yields Higher, Treasuries Offer Hedge
Yahoo Finance ·
Priya Misra of JPMorgan Asset Management stated that AI-driven capital competition and robust economic resilience have elevated bond yields. Speaking on Bloomberg Television, she noted that long-term yield increases stem largely from higher real rates rather than inflation expectations. Misra considers the market pricing of three additional Federal Reserve rate hikes excessive, viewing one or two as more rational. She also cautioned that elevated real interest rates combined with financial market leverage could trigger stress in the system. The benchmark 10-year U.S. Treasury yield hovered around 5.09 percent on Friday. Despite a challenging period for fixed income, high-quality bonds yielding 6 to 7 percent remain attractive and serve as an effective hedge if the AI trade loses momentum. Meanwhile, retail investor sentiment on Stocktwits remained bullish for both the iShares 20+ Year Treasury Bond ETF and the iShares 7-10 Year Treasury Bond ETF.

DYAX 전담 분석
Capital demand triggered by AI infrastructure investments is driving up real interest rates and exerting direct pressure on the bond market. With 10-year Treasury yields surpassing 5%, concerns are raised that high interest rates may stimulate excessive leverage within the financial system and induce potential risks.
Moving forward, the continuation of AI theme momentum and the actual magnitude of Fed rate hikes will be key indicators determining the direction of the bond market. If AI growth slows down, Treasuries could emerge as a strong safe-haven refuge, but if high rates persist, attention must be paid to expanding credit risks.
