Blue Owl Leads $2.4 Billion Debt Deal for Iren Data Center
Yahoo Finance ·
Blue Owl Capital Inc. funds have orchestrated a $2.4 billion debt financing package for cloud computing provider Iren Ltd., earmarked for acquiring Nvidia Corp. Blackwell Ultra GPUs for a Canadian data center campus. The arrangement consists of a $1.2 billion senior-secured term loan and $1.2 billion in senior secured notes, enabling the Sydney-based firm to procure equipment incrementally over a specific period. Backed also by Pacific Investment Management Co., both tranches feature a 9% interest rate and a maturity of two and a half years post-funding. Kurt Tenenbaum, senior managing director at Blue Owl, highlighted that the structure blends equipment financing with direct lending. The capital will expand computing capabilities at Iren's Mackenzie data center in British Columbia. Blue Owl manages $319 billion in assets and has previously backed AI infrastructure initiatives like Meta's Hyperion facility and a Texas project with Crusoe. Meanwhile, Iren shares dropped nearly 13% to $35.40 in New York on Friday afternoon following its recent earnings report.

상승 영향
- AI — A massive $2.4 billion debt financing is directly injected into NVIDIA Blackwell Ultra GPU purchases and data center expansion, accelerating growth across the AI infrastructure ecosystem.
- Semiconductors — As IREN secures massive volumes of NVIDIA GPUs through substantial funding, strong earnings and direct benefits are expected for related high-performance semiconductor manufacturers.
하락 영향
- Growth Stocks — As IREN secures debt financing at a high interest rate of 9% per annum, the burden of capital costs increases amid a high-interest-rate environment, acting as downward pressure on stock prices of related companies.
DYAX 전담 분석
The $2.4 billion debt financing at a 9% interest rate, featuring participation from Blue Owl and PIMCO, directly supports IREN's massive AI data center expansion and acquisition of NVIDIA GPUs. This structured finance reflects soaring demand for high-performance computing, directly translating to increased revenue across the related hardware supply chain.
The bullish scenario is that soaring AI computing demand enables IREN's data centers to generate early revenues, boosting NVIDIA supply chain stocks, while the bearish scenario is that the heavy financial burden of a 9% interest rate exerts financial pressure, deepening stock declines. Key metrics to watch are the debt financing rates for AI infrastructure and GPU utilization rates.
