Yahoo Finance ·
SpaceX and Tesla are scheduled to release their third-quarter results on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively. SpaceX stock has experienced a three percent drop over the past month. Barclays recently suggested that a potential transaction could materialize prior to Tesla's annual shareholder meeting on December 3, identifying SpaceX as the more probable acquirer. Under an all-stock arrangement, Barclays projects that Elon Musk would maintain approximately 37 percent of equity and 56 percent of voting power. Adding to the speculation, Tesla showcased a new Roadster leveraging rocket technology at a SpaceX test facility in Texas. Analysts anticipate SpaceX to report revenue of roughly $12.74 billion, compared to $7.8 billion in the second quarter. Furthermore, SpaceX agreed on October 8 to acquire 800 MHz of spectrum from Grain Management for about $8 billion, pending FCC clearance. Connectivity revenue climbed 66 percent to $4.3 billion in the second quarter, while AI revenue reached $2.6 billion. SpaceX recorded a net loss of $541 million for the quarter. Meanwhile, Tesla is projected to post earnings of 43 cents per share on revenue of $27.88 billion, with its shares down about 17 percent year-to-date.

SpaceX's Q3 earnings announcement and merger rumors with Tesla are acting as major factors amplifying stock volatility for both companies. Although Starlink connected revenue increased by 66% and the AI division recorded positive EBITDA, a net loss of $5.41 million due to massive capital expenditures remains a risk factor.
If the merger is completed, volatility in related assets will increase due to Elon Musk's stake concentration and expectations of synergies, with future FCC approval and ROI metrics on AI investment being key watchpoints.
