Rising GPU prices just might turn Nvidia into a buy Yahoo Finance Video Fri, November 6, 2026 at 11:07 AM EST NVDA +3.43% In The Loop host Ejaaz Ahamadee compares the rising prices of older GPUs with the drop in crypto tokens, underlining how this can be beneficial for Nvidia ( NVDA ). Actually, if you look at the demand for these GPUs, there's two data points that are completely irrefutable, especially if you're taking a bearish view of this. Number one is the value of these GPUs. I'm talking about the old GPUs which a lot of people say are going to depreciate really quickly. There's 6 to 10-year-old GPUs that are currently worth 3X, 2 to 3X more than they originally did when they debuted. This is the cost to rent them out and the price to rent these things out have gone up on order of around, I think it's like 60 to 70% since July. So, prior to July, we were seeing that trend, but people were kind of like, including myself, were like, mm, I don't know if this is sustainable. We're still seeing it despite the crashes that we're seeing around us. People still want these GPUs. But the second data point is the most telling, which is the cost of tokens. So tokens are the things that you need to they're kind of like pennies in a slot machine. You need it to kind of get the AI going to use the AI models. And so you look at the value of those tokens and if it crashes, you could argue, you're not going to earn as much money as you want for AI products and GPUs in general. It's not what we've seen at all. The cost of these tokens have plummeted to around I think 58 to 60%. Despite that, these GPU rental prices are still going up. So the point I'm trying to make here is, if you look at a very fair market valuation, like not what Nvidia prices their GPUs at, not what anyone else sells their GPUs at, just the fair market, secondary market, re-rental for these GPUs, old GPUs, demand still massively outpaces it. And this is happening during one of the worst market drawdowns ever. So, if you look at Nvidia, I'm just kind of looking at that and I'm like, well, it might be a buy here.
AI 시장 분석
Rental prices for older NVIDIA GPUs have surged 60 to 70 percent since July, with 6 to 10-year-old legacy products retaining two to three times their original cost, proving robust demand. It is an unusual phenomenon that GPU rental rates continue to rise despite a 58 to 60 percent drop in token prices required to run AI models. This demonstrates that AI infrastructure demand significantly outweighs supply even in a bear market, acting as a potential buying opportunity for investors.
상승 영향
- Semiconductors — Rental prices for older NVIDIA GPUs have surged 60-70% and retained 2-3 times their original cost, proving solid demand for AI hardware and positively impacting earnings.
- AI — Despite a 58-60% drop in token prices for running AI models, GPU rental demand continues to outpace supply, confirming the long-term growth potential of AI infrastructure.
DYAX 전담 분석
The two to three times increase in the value of older GPUs and the 60 to 70 percent hike in rental rates are direct indicators of how solid the market's structural demand for NVIDIA (NVDA) hardware is. The fact that rental demand remains cooling-proof despite a 58 to 60 percent crash in AI token prices is a key factor enhancing NVIDIA's earnings defense and product competitiveness.
A stock correction scenario remains valid if future further declines in AI token prices eventually slowdown GPU rental demand. Conversely, if current supply shortages and high rental prices are maintained, it is expected to lead to an earnings surprise for NVIDIA, drawing strong buying pressure. Investors must monitor secondhand GPU rental price trends and the potential rebound of token prices as core indicators.
