Apple Intelligence Set for China Debut as Greater China Revenue Climbs 22%
Yahoo Finance ·
According to Reuters, Apple CEO Tim Cook announced on Thursday, October 15, during an interview in Shanghai with state-backed outlet The Paper, that a test version of Apple Intelligence will roll out to users in China later this month. Developed with support from Alibaba, the China-specific release features live translation, writing tools, and image clean-up, though the upgraded Siri is omitted. Over the past four quarters, Greater China generated roughly 17 percent of Apple's total revenue, amounting to $79.34 billion out of $466.83 billion. Regional revenue jumped 38 percent in the December quarter, 28 percent in March, and 22 percent in June, consistently outpacing Apple's company-wide growth rate. Apple is scheduled to report its fourth-quarter financial results on Monday, November 2, as markets closely watch how artificial intelligence integration will impact future sales momentum in the region.

Apple (AAPL) announced plans to launch a test version of Apple Intelligence in China later this month with the support of Alibaba (BABA). Greater China revenue has grown for three consecutive quarters, reaching $18.82 billion in the June quarter, up 22%. The introduction of this AI feature is expected to narrow the gap with local competitors Huawei and Xiaomi, preventing Chinese consumers from churning.
상승 영향
- Big Tech — Apple has received approval from Chinese regulators and partnered with Alibaba to launch Apple Intelligence, reducing the technological gap with local competitors (Huawei, Xiaomi) and enabling continued revenue growth in Greater China.
DYAX 전담 분석
Greater China's revenue growth exceeding 20% for three consecutive quarters is driven by strong hardware sales, particularly an early sales volume for the iPhone 17 that nearly doubled compared to its predecessor. Combined with the introduction of Apple Intelligence, this is analyzed to have a positive impact on stimulating additional demand and defending market share in the Chinese market.
The bullish scenario is that the year-end shopping season's AI feature integration will sustain iPhone upgrade demand and drive revenue growth, while the bearish scenario is that the lack of an upgraded Siri may result in insufficient practical upgrade incentives for local consumers. Investors should closely monitor whether regional revenue in China is maintained and the contribution of AI in the December quarter earnings report.
