Qnity Advances Local-For-Local Strategy to Secure More AI Chip Orders from Nvidia and TSMC
Yahoo Finance ·
Semiconductor materials provider Qnity is intensifying its regional manufacturing and sourcing strategy to capture greater AI chip business from major industry players like Nvidia and TSMC. In an interview with Nikkei Asia, CEO Jon Kemp emphasized that the firm acquires over 70% of its raw materials locally within its operating regions. This localized framework allows Qnity to enhance supply chain resilience, accelerate innovation, and align with client velocity. The company recently invested $61.5 million to scale up advanced materials production in Taiwan, alongside expansions in South Korea, Vietnam, and Delaware in the U.S. Amid robust demand, Qnity reported that sales for advanced packaging and AI-related printed circuit board materials surged more than 50% year-over-year in the first half. Investors are now awaiting the company's third-quarter earnings report on November 4, tracking projected earnings per share of $1.20 on $1.49 billion in revenue, alongside a targeted annual free cash flow of $600 million to $700 million under incoming CFO Ken Rizvi.

To respond to the soaring demand for AI chips, Qnity is pursuing a 'local for local' strategy of locally sourcing over 70% of its raw materials. By expanding production capacities in Taiwan, the US, South Korea, and elsewhere, the company is reducing supply chain risks and strengthening customer cooperation. This move is accelerating the restructuring of the semiconductor materials industry and drawing investor attention.

- Semiconductors — Long-term earnings growth is expected as Qnity expands its local production capacity by over 20% and diversifies its supply chain to meet the rising demand for AI chip materials and advanced packaging.

- Semiconductors — Due to US tariffs and geopolitical risks, the stock prices of Qnity and major customers TSMC, Intel, and NVDA have undergone short-term corrections, weakening investor sentiment.
DYAX 전담 분석
Qnity is establishing a solid earnings foundation with over 50% growth in advanced packaging and AI-related materials businesses expected in 2026, but its stock price has trended downward in the short term amid overall weakness in the semiconductor sector. The achievement of its free cash flow target in the Q3 earnings release scheduled for November 4 will be a key metric determining future stock direction.
While the local production strategy will improve profitability through supply chain stability and cost reduction if successful, the initial increase in investment costs due to supply chain diversification could pose a burden on earnings. Investors should closely monitor whether the $600M to $700M free cash flow guidance is met and the order trends of major customers TSMC and Intel.
