See what's on it » Samsung Electronics will invest $500 million, with Samsung C&T, Samsung SDS, Samsung SDI, Samsung Life Insurance and Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance providing the remainder. KKR, the Kuwait Investment Authority, Nvidia and U.S. power company Vistra are also founding investors in Helix. Helix, launched in June, is designed to provide infrastructure across the AI value chain, including hyperscale data centers, power generation, transmission and distribution infrastructure and fiber-optic networks. See this month's picks » The company is led by former Amazon Web Services CEO Adam Selipsky and is building a management team drawn from the data-center and power industries. The company described power availability as a major bottleneck for AI infrastructure and said Helix plans to secure capacity through direct investment and partnerships with energy developers, including Vistra. The investment also brings together capabilities across Samsung's businesses. Samsung Electronics supplies semiconductor solutions, while its Device eXperience division provides data-center cooling equipment through FläktGroup, which it acquired in 2025. Samsung C&T works on data-center and power projects as an engineering, procurement and construction contractor, while Samsung SDS designs and operates data centers and has entered the GPU-as-a-service market. Samsung SDI provides uninterruptible power supplies and battery backup systems for data centers and plans to explore additional business opportunities in the sector. Samsung said the investment is intended to support global AI data-center deployment while allowing its affiliates to combine their hardware, engineering, cooling, power and data-center capabilities around Helix.
