SpaceX Says a Mystery AI Customer Adds $1.11 Billion a Month. Google Shows How Fast Compute Is Growing Habib Ur Rehman Sun, September 13, 2026 at 6:42 AM EDT 3 min read SPCX GOOG Space Exploration Technologies Corp. (NASDAQ: SPCX ) says a new, unnamed hosting customer will begin paying $1.11 billion per month on December 1. That is a $13.32 billion annualized run rate, not necessarily a guaranteed $13 billion contract. Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ: GOOGL ) shows both how quickly this business can scale and why contract terms matter. SpaceX CFO Bret Johnsen disclosed the agreement at Goldman Sachs' September 10 technology conference. Management said it had closed the deal earlier that month but did not identify the customer, capacity or full term. That missing information prevents investors from estimating required hardware or margins. Johnsen also described the company's compute arrangements as roughly 90-day commitments followed by a 90-day exit period. Annualizing one month therefore measures pace, not durable backlog. SpaceX signed Google to a separate cloud-services agreement in June. An SEC filing says Google will pay $920 million per month from October 2026 through June 2029 for access to about 110,000 NVIDIA GPUs and related equipment. Yet either party can terminate after December 31 with 90 days' notice, and Google can reduce payments or exit if SpaceX misses its September delivery requirement. For SpaceX, these customers can monetize AI infrastructure quickly and help fund a larger compute buildout. The company's second-quarter revenue rose more than 90% to $7.8 billion, while its AI segment turned adjusted EBITDA positive. The bear case is capital intensity, hardware obsolescence and revenue concentration. A spectacular run rate can disappear faster than a conventional multiyear backlog when cancellation rights are short. Alphabet gains flexible external capacity while its own cloud demand accelerates. Google Cloud revenue rose 82% to $24.8 billion in the second quarter. That supports the idea that compute demand is outrunning internal supply. It also exposes Alphabet to vendor delivery and raises the question of why a leading infrastructure owner must rent so much capacity from a new competitor. SpaceX had no comparable public holding in Q1 before its June IPO. Insider Monkey's hedge fund database shows VY Capital with 271,811,500 shares in Q2. GOOGL holders increased to 275 from 265, while Berkshire Hathaway owned 78,791,167 shares after lifting its position 46%. These quarter-end snapshots predate the mystery-customer disclosure. As of August 31, 77,698,668 GOOGL shares were sold short, roughly 0.72% of float and 3.48 days of average volume. The compute opportunity is large. Investors should value signed revenue by its cancellation rights, not its annualized headline. SpaceX secured $1.11 billion in monthly revenue from a new AI client, proving the rapid growth of the AI infrastructure market. Google also signed a $920 million monthly cloud contract to secure NVIDIA GPUs, demonstrating a surge in computing demand. Investors must carefully monitor short 90-day cancellation terms and high capital concentration risks.

DYAX 전담 분석

The massive contracts by SpaceX and Google show an explosive increase in demand for AI computing infrastructure, acting as a direct catalyst for the revenue growth of related companies. However, short contract cancellation terms and the risk of hardware obsolescence are factors that increase volatility.

The bullish scenario is the acceleration of earnings growth as contracts are extended due to sustained AI demand, while the bearish scenario is a sharp drop in revenue due to the triggering of the 90-day cancellation clause. Key indicators to watch are whether clients maintain their contracts and the progress of hardware deliveries.
