Amazon ( AMZN , Financials ) could get an early holiday-shopping boost next month as Adobe Analytics forecasts consumers will spend $10 billion during the company's Oct. 6-7 Prime Day event. Adobe expects October spending alone to reach $95.8 billion, an 8% year-over-year increase. That suggests the traditional holiday calendar is continuing to stretch well beyond Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Adobe said Amazon's Prime Day has helped reshape the season by creating another major shopping spike before the traditional holiday period, forcing retailers to adjust promotions and inventory earlier. The spending is still expected to accelerate around Thanksgiving. Adobe forecasts consumers will spend more than $15 billion on Cyber Monday and $47.5 billion during Cyber Week, equivalent to 17.3% of projected holiday-season online spending. Black Friday is expected to generate $12.9 billion, up 9.2% from last year. Electronics could be particularly important for Amazon and other online retailers. Adobe expects products including Apple's AirPods Pro 4 and iPhone 18 Pro and Duo, Google's Pixel 11, Meta's AI glasses and Samsung's Galaxy S26 and Z Fold 8 to rank among popular products this holiday season. Gaming hardware and software are also expected to attract shoppers, with Adobe highlighting Nintendo Switch 2, Sony's PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro, and Microsoft's Xbox Series X among expected top-selling consoles. For Amazon, however, the first major test arrives well before Black Friday. Adobe's $10 billion Prime Day forecast means Oct. 6 and 7 could offer an early indication of whether consumers are on track to deliver the record holiday season currently expected.
