Midnight Sun Mining Corp (TSX-V:MMA, OTCQB:MDNGF) has begun a Phase Two exploration program at its Dumbwa copper deposit in Zambia, the company said, shifting from broad systematic drilling to a more targeted strategy aimed at expanding higher-grade mineralization. The new phase builds on Phase One, which saw nearly 75,000 metres of drilling across the initial 11.5 kilometres of the roughly 20 kilometre Dumbwa copper-in-soil anomaly. That work identified four areas of more intense copper mineralization within the broader corridor and generated an extensive geological, geochemical and geophysical dataset. Phase Two will combine high-resolution ground magnetics, dipole-dipole induced polarization geophysics, soil geochemistry and diamond drilling, with two main objectives: extending the Dumbwa system northward and identifying higher-grade mineralization both within the previously drilled corridor and in potential satellite targets to the east and west. An initial high-resolution ground magnetic survey over a previously drilled portion of Dumbwa identified distinct magnetic signatures associated with drill-confirmed copper mineralization, according to the company. Similar signatures were also found outside the currently defined corridor, including two new exploration targets located around one kilometre east of the main trend. Based on those results, the company is expanding the magnetic survey to cover the full 20 kilometre extent of the anomaly. The company also plans to extend its induced polarization survey northward, with about 19.1 line- kilometres of additional coverage underway, and to broaden its soil sampling program with roughly 4,600 samples planned across magnetic targets west of Dumbwa. Phase One drilling remains ongoing and is expected to be completed by the end of the third quarter of 2026, with drilling now shifted to the northern block using wider step-outs to identify additional higher-grade zones. Kevin Bonel, Midnight Sun's Chief Operating Officer, said Phase One had given the company the tools and geological understanding to test Dumbwa with a level of precision not previously possible. “After nearly 75,000 metres of drilling, we have built a dataset that is fundamentally underpinning exploration going forward,” Bonel said. “We are seeing distinct zones of enhanced copper mineralization along the main corridor, including areas of higher grade, and our new magnetic survey is identifying positive geological signatures beyond the areas we have previously tested.”
