( AAPL , Financials ) might be quite interested in its first foldable iPhone . Making enough of them might be the difficult part.Early production is said to be a few hundred units a day while Apple works through manufacturing issues and its own high quality standards.For a business used to rolling out iPhones at tremendous scale, that's a small quantity. Apple is likely to debut the foldable at its Sept. 9 product presentation, with the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max.The foldable iPhone might cost between $2,300 and $2,500, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, which would be considerably more expensive than Apple's usual flagship models.He also sees 7 million to 8 million shipments in the second half of 2026, but only 500,000 to 1 million units in the third quarter. That creates a weird situation for Apple.Demand might be kept high by a lack that would make the device seem more exclusive. But if the output is too scarce, Apple could have a tough time translating that demand into significant revenue at first. The bigger question is can the corporation ramp up manufacturing rapidly enough after launch.Investors will get a clearer response on Sept. 9 when Apple is scheduled to announce pricing, availability and its intentions for the foldable iPhone.
