Uber expands U.S. driver background checks, updates screening rules

Uber Technologies ( UBER ) will broaden its background check requirements for U.S. drivers and couriers, applying stricter screening standards to both new and existing workers, Bloomberg reported on Friday, as the ride-hailing company faces thousands of lawsuits over alleged sexual assaults by drivers.
