Meta Platforms ( NASDAQ:META ) is reportedly weighing a $6.5 billion AI chip deal with Samsung Foundry, a move that could shift part of its MTIA roadmap away from Taiwan Semiconductor ( NYSE:TSM ). Sedaily reported that Meta is in talks with Samsung Electronics ( SSNLF ) to design and produce next-generation MTIA AI chips using Samsung's 2nm process. Warning! The deal would be worth more than 10 trillion won and would mark a major win for Samsung after TSMC produced Meta's first 2 generations of in-house AI accelerators. The company is also working with Samsung's System LSI division on chip development, according to the report.
