Michael David Butler, 44, told paramedics the car was on Autopilot when it hit Martha Avila's home in Katy, Texas, according to an arrest affidavit. Tesla has disputed Butler's account, with CEO Elon Musk saying a vehicle in Full Self-Driving mode drives slowly through neighborhood streets.
