The disclosure was made as the AI chip maker raised $1bn as part of a Series F investment round, giving it a post-money valuation of $11bn. The company will use the capital to scale global AI infrastructure, speed up innovation, and support a wide ecosystem of customers. This includes expanding full-stack solutions across chips, systems, and software. JPMorganChase Infrastructure Platforms CIO Darrin Alves said: “At JPMorganChase, AI infrastructure has to meet a very high bar for performance, control and reliability. “We’re excited to deploy SambaNova’s RDU architecture and looking forward to testing its speed and security for on-prem inference in our demanding enterprise AI workloads.” Established in 2017 and based in San Jose, California, SambaNova develops AI infrastructure and supplies chips, systems and cloud-based services. The funding comes as it has widened its international customer base, made leadership changes, moved forward with Intel on heterogeneous inference, and continued development of inference systems designed for agentic AI and enterprise use. Earlier this year, SambaNova introduced its SN50 chip and disclosed a fundraising of more than $350m together with a collaboration with Intel. JPMorgan has been making strides towards AI expansion. In May, JPMorgan chief executive Jamie Dimon said the bank is expected to recruit more workers with AI expertise and “fewer” conventional bankers as the technology becomes more widely used, reported Bloomberg. Dimon said the change is unlikely to require large-scale job cuts and suggested it could mostly be managed through normal staff turnover.
