Constellation Locks In 20-Year PPA Deals With Amazon and Google
Yahoo Finance ·
Independent power producer Constellation Energy has secured two substantial 20-year power purchase agreements with tech giants Amazon and Alphabet's Google, significantly boosting its long-term revenue visibility. On September 30, Constellation finalized a 20-year deal to supply Amazon with 690 megawatts of electricity, which involves Amazon helping finance a 190-megawatt capacity uprate at the Calvert Cliffs Clean Energy Center in Maryland, with the new capacity scheduled to come online between 2030 and 2032. Just a week later on October 6, the company established another 20-year agreement with Google to deliver 890 megawatts of new nuclear capacity within the PJM Interconnection territory. These contracts will fund critical facility upgrades across nuclear plants in Illinois, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. Operating as an independent power producer without transmission network ownership, Constellation sells power at market rates rather than regulated prices.

Constellation Energy has finalized massive nuclear power supply agreements by signing 20-year long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs) with Amazon and Google, respectively. It will supply 690MW of power to Amazon and 890MW to Google, establishing a foundation for stable future cash flows. Amid surging power demand from data centers, the value of nuclear energy is being reevaluated.
상승 영향
- Nuclear Energy — Stable long-term revenues have been secured through 20-year long-term PPAs with Amazon and Google, and corporate value is expected to rise by directly benefiting from the surging power demand of data centers.
DYAX 전담 분석
Through these agreements, Constellation Energy has secured stable long-term revenue visibility for the next 20 years, and facility upgrade costs will be reduced through partner investments. As nuclear power emerges as a stable, carbon-free power source for operating AI data centers, profitability in the independent power producer (IPP) sector is expected to improve significantly.
The bullish scenario involves valuation upward revisions driven by additional power contract signings with Big Tech companies, while the bearish scenario includes risks of grid interconnection delays or strengthened nuclear regulations. Key monitoring indicators moving forward are wholesale electricity prices in the PJM Interconnection region and the possibility of additional contracts.
