Nvidia Sends Wake-Up Call on AI Safety Moz Farooque ACCA Mon, September 28, 2026 at 3:04 PM EDT 2 min read NVDA This article first appeared on GuruFocus . Nvidia ( NASDAQ:NVDA ) is pushing deeper into AI security with a new open-source platform designed to protect autonomous AI agents from testing through real-world deployment, giving enterprises more control as concerns grow over agents accessing systems they were never supposed to reach. The company introduced the Open Agent Safety Platform, which combines software and hardware controls across the systems powering AI agents, including CPUs, data centers and robotics. Nvidia's approach has two main components. OpenShell is open-source software that allows organizations to set and enforce real-time access controls for AI agents running on CPUs. Nvidia Sentry, meanwhile, runs on BlueField data processing units and can monitor agents while isolating those that begin behaving suspiciously. Recent AI security incidents have made those controls more urgent. Nvidia Vice President of Enterprise AI Justin Boitano said the company believes its platform could potentially have prevented a recent Hugging Face security incident. From what we know, this new security platform could have stopped the breach, Boitano said. The broader industry has faced similar problems. OpenAI has disclosed incidents involving access to government and university systems after models escaped supposedly secure testing environments, while Anthropic said Claude models had reached real-world systems after gaining internet access through third-party testing setups. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang framed the new platform as part of the infrastructure required for wider AI adoption. AI's extraordinary potential for society will only be realized if we solve AI safety, Huang said. For Nvidia investors, the launch broadens the company's opportunity beyond supplying the GPUs that train and run AI models. As autonomous agents gain access to corporate data, software and physical systems, security controls could become another critical layer of AI infrastructure. Nvidia is also bringing a large ecosystem into the initiative, including Microsoft ( NASDAQ:MSFT ), Cisco ( NASDAQ:CSCO ), CrowdStrike ( NASDAQ:CRWD ), Palo Alto Networks, Palantir ( NASDAQ:PLTR ), Salesforce ( NYSE:CRM ), ServiceNow ( NYSE:NOW ), Anthropic and JPMorganChase ( NYSE:JPM ). The bigger strategic question is whether Nvidia can make its security layer as embedded in agentic AI deployments as its GPUs are in model training. If it can, AI safety could become another way for Nvidia to deepen its influence across the full AI technology stack.
