Inside Securitize's SPAC IPO and tokenization strategy Yahoo Finance Video and Josh Lipton Thu, July 2, 2026 at 4:31 PM EDT AAPL Securitize CEO Carlos Domingo joins Yahoo Finance to discuss the company's planned IPO via SPAC, why financial markets need a tokenization platform, and how investors could benefit. in simple terms, tokenization just you think of it as an upgrade of the rails that capital markets run on. Today capital markets run on on technology from the 60s, from the 70s, you know, disconnected from each other, that requires a lot of like intermediaries, uh it has, you know, issues with long settlement cycles as you mentioned, lack of 24/7 trading, you know, a lot of manual operations to do things like paying dividends, etc. So, this is like upgrading, you know, how the rails of capital markets to a better ledger technology, which is what a blockchain is. uh to make them more efficient and and, you know, allow for, you know, better fractional ownership, more accessibility, 24/7 trading, instant settlement, uh etc. Carlos, what if what if folks push back and they said, okay, Carlos, but, you know what, Wall Street works just fine already. I can trade stocks in seconds on my phone. What's really broken in the system? Where where's the real friction that demands being addressed? Well, if you look at one of the two largest trends uh on on equity tradings today, they're basically retail adoption. There's been, you know, constant growth of retail adoption as well as, you know, demand offshore demand for US uh equities. So, and if you think about those two trends, you know, they are not met by a current market uh conditions. So, last Friday, for instance, in the US here was a holiday and if you were in Japan and you wanted to trade Apple shares, you couldn't. Uh or today at 4:30 markets are going to close, so liquidity is going to be terrible when somebody wake up on the other side of the world or the retail person comes back home from work at 7:00 p.m. and wants to buy stocks. So, that's that's the friction that we're going to eliminate. Yeah. So so for the average investor, tokenization ultimately means Carlos, faster trading, more access, lower minimums? 100%. It's going to be more efficient, it's going to have less intermediaries, it's going to be easier for people to consume uh, you know, US equities uh worldwide and by the way, today we launch our IP here in the New York Stock Exchange, but at the same time, we put our own shares on chain and that they are tradeable from uh from day one in both traditional markets as well as weby markets.
